The Land of Canaan — Where Legacy Began
Long before borders defined the modern world, the ancient land of Canaan flourished across the Levant. A crossroads of civilisation, culture and trade along the eastern Mediterranean. Home to ancient Semitic-speaking peoples whose cities connected great cultures of the region, Canaan left an extraordinary imprint on human history. Among its most enduring legacies was the development of early alphabetic writing, from which the Phoenician alphabet emerged and spread across the Mediterranean, profoundly influencing later writing systems.
KANAAN draws its soul from this ancient world. The names of our fragrances are inspired by deities once revered across the lands and cultures of ancient Canaan, including Ashera, associated with the great mother goddess Asherah, and Astarte, the powerful goddess associated with love, fertility, and war.
KANAAN is not simply a name. It is a journey into an ancient land whose legacy continues to speak now, through scent.

The Founder … A Memory in a Bottle
Born and raised in the UAE, Ola Kanaan is a lifelong fragrance lover whose journey with scent began at home. After moving to the UK, she found herself longing for the familiar aroma of her parents’ home. oud and bakhoor drifting through the rooms, intertwined with the rich tobacco notes of her father’s fine cigars. Wanting to carry that feeling of home with her, she intuitively created her own fragrance blend, later working with a specialist fragrance oil supplier to refine and produce it.
The result was Ashera — a memory in a bottle, an olfactory expression of home, family and belonging, and the fragrance from which KANAAN was born. Today, Ola continues to deepen her craft through professional perfumery studies, bringing formal knowledge to a creative journey that began with memory, passion and instinct.
